Duncan’s 1974 novel revolves around Blackwood boarding school and its mysterious students. Ensnared in the chilling world is new student Kit Gordy, who must unravel Blackwood’s haunted and tragic history before it’s too late. “Twilight” producer Wyck Godfrey is also in talks to produce.
Duncan has penned a number of novels that have made their way to the bigscreen, including “Hotel for Dogs” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
Stephenie Meyer addressed this announcement on her site earlier today as follows!
Just wanting to comment on the story Variety ran today. We weren’t going to announce this until more of the project had come together, but here goes! My production company, Fickle Fish, acquired the option to Lois Duncan’s novel Down a Dark Hall a while back. We’re developing this project with our good pals at Temple Hill Entertainment, who we are so excited to be working with again. Not too much information to share as yet, but even in this early stage, it is still very exciting. I grew up reading and loving Lois Duncan novels, and I can’t believe my good luck that I get to be involved with this project. Down a Dark Hall was my favorite of her novels (though it’s a very close race with Summer of Fear and Stranger with My Face) and it gave me some serious nightmares when I was nine. I will have more information on my Fickle Fish site for those interested when there is more to share. These things are very slow moving, though, so it will probably be a while.
Stephenie also went on to provide an update about The Host so be sure to check out her site HERE for more!
